![]() I think I captured an 80s sci-fi horror mixed into a twisted fantasy like day dream. What's cool and different about this track is how haunted and dark it feels. I wanted to capture that vibe and put my own spin on the genre. “Something about the bass lines and the hard hitting syncopation really hit the spot. This song has been 2 years in the making, it's the most 'me' song out there and a total ear worm.” The world has become so polarizing and I wanted this song to encapsulate that energy. Everywhere I look people are spouting their beliefs while contradicting themselves in the same breath. “The lyrics aren't about what I personally believe. He explained about some tracks for the EP. And isn’t finding your sound the whole point?” ![]() ![]() I believe in the songwriting, I’m confident in the production and most of all I can hear “my” sound. The main purpose of their attacks was to capture slaves for the Ottoman slave trade as well as the general Arab slavery market in North Africa and the Middle East. In addition to seizing merchant ships, they engaged in Razzias, raids on European coastal towns and villages, mainly in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, but also in the British Isles, the Netherlands, and Iceland. Their predation extended throughout the Mediterranean, south along West Africa's Atlantic seaboard and into the North Atlantic as far north as Iceland, but they primarily operated in the western Mediterranean. This area was known in Europe as the Barbary Coast, in reference to the Berbers. There is no need to continue the series unless you have completely fallen in love with the characters and want to know more about them. I do think it serves just fine as a stand-alone novel. It was an entertaining audiobook and should be a good read, if you go in with little expectations on delving into a true murder mystery/crime oriented story. Everything is wrapped up nicely in end when even more discoveries about Fin’s past are exposed. I assume this because it is the first of a 3 part series. Apparently, the main part is Fin, himself. I liked getting to know him but, I felt it always took away from what you think is the main part of the story is, the actual crime. The story is a bit of a murder mystery except with more focus on the backstory of the main character, Fin. The setting and scenes were described in a way that is easily envisioned, even if you know absolutely nothing about the area or people. I found myself repeating the odd words or phrases (in a horrible impersonation)because it was just fun. I like an audiobook with great narrators that can really capture the characters and their accents. ![]() ![]() On the whole, Ehlert soars with a masterful blend of art and natural science.
